Halsey's boyfriend Yungblud opens up about ‘fluid’ sexuality

Halsey's boyfriend Yungblud has opened up about his 'fluid' sexuality in a new interview with Attitude. The 21-year-old rockstar told the magazine "I am more straight. [But If] I walked down the street and met a f***ing bloke tomorrow, or a trans person, you never know."

Yungblud, born Dominic Harrison described himself as "very fluid," and said, "it’s about connection."

He also spoke out about his genderfluid style onstage, where he often wears dresses and eyeliner. For the Attitude photoshoot, he opted for a leopard coat, his signature pink socks and layered necklaces.

"That’s why I f***ing wear a dress on stage. We’ve been brought up with such boundaries: woman wears dress, man sees woman’s curves, you can make baby. Western civilisation put women in dresses and men in trousers. Before that, in medieval times, every f***er wore a dress."

He went on to say that sometimes he wakes up and wants to look "girly," while other times he opts for a polo shirt. "I’ll be Anita from West Side Story then suddenly transform into Liam Gallagher," he explained.

He also spoke about moving from Doncaster to London, saying, "I came to London to be liberated, to be able to paint my nails, to f***ing try sex with a guy, to try everything, to fulfil my fantasies and figure out who I am."

His girlfriend, Halsey, is equally open about her sexuality. The 'Hurricane' songstress posted a video to social media that was played when she won Outstanding Music Artist at the 2018 GLAAD Media Awards. In it she said, "I’m a young, bisexual woman, and I’ve spent a large part of my life trying to validate myself — to my friends, to my family, to myself — trying to prove that who I love and how I feel is not a phase; it’s not part of some confusion that’s going to change or could be manipulated."

“I tried really hard to find the courage this year to write female pronouns into my music,” she said, referencing her hit 'Bad at Love,' where she sings about dating women and men. Her 'Strangers' duet with former Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui is equally inclusive.

Yungblud and Halsey collaborated on the song '11 Minutes,' which was released in February.

On Instagram, Yungblud wrote: "love isn’t a choice, it just happens. if I fell in love with a trans person, or a gay person, or a bi person or a straight person, it’s just the way it is. it’s all on a deeper level. i believe you should never rule out an opportunity where someone can come along and change your whole opinion and perspective of what you are."
