Halo Studios says Campaign Evolved won’t include a shop, but cosmetic skins will still be available — cue the arguments

We recently got the reveal that Halo: Campaign Evolved and other first-party Xbox games are getting rewards through a partnership with Fanta. As part of this, it was confirmed that Halo: Campaign Evolved will feature a Fanta-inspired skin for Master Chief, which will be usable in the campaign.

The game itself has no multiplayer mode, so this is limited to campaign. While the game does include co-op, some fans began to question whether this meant a shop would be added to purchase skins for use in campaign.

Now, thanks to Halo Studio’s Community Director, we finally have a clear answer.

I’ve been covering a lot of Halo: Campaign Evolved lately, from reports by Mr. Rebs to the newly revealed Fanta partnership. Now, we have official confirmation that the game will not feature a shop.

This comes despite the presence of skins, or at least the one that we know of so far. Players who purchase the Halo-themed pineapple Fanta will receive a QR code to redeem a Fanta-themed skin for Master Chief in Campaign Evolved.

This does raise the question of whether more skins could be on the way. I’d personally love to see that, especially since we’ve already heard that skulls will play a big role in replayability.

That opens the door for unlockable rewards tied to challenges, like completing the campaign on Legendary, or even Legendary with all skulls enabled. It would be great to see in-game rewards return in a meaningful way.

That’s something the series has been missing, with recent entries leaning more toward microtransactions and store systems that felt far less rewarding.

Are you happy to find out Halo: Campaign Evolved won't feature a shop?

I honestly expected some form of microtransactions to be included in Halo: Campaign Evolved, at least to help offset the cost of the game.

That does raise the question of what the game will cost. I’m hoping it comes in under $50 to help introduce as many people to Halo as possible.
