Halloween stabbing, angry parking note and Scousers welcome Afghan refugees

Good afternoon, these are the ECHO headlines today.

Horror as young man stabbed and robbed on 'normal road'

Residents described their shock and horror after a young man was stabbed on Halloween.

Police were called to reports of a man suffering stab wounds on Sandy Lane in Seaforth, after an attack on Claremont Road on Sunday, October 31.

The stabbing happened at around 6.30pm, while children were trick-or-treating in the area.

Speaking to the ECHO, one man said that four police cars "flew up" the road where he lives, including an unmarked BMW and vans.

He said: "There were loads of them."

Man asked if he has Alzheimer's in angry parking note left on van

An NHS worker was left sickened by a note left on his van that questioned whether he had Alzheimer's.

Steve Madden, 54, works at the Liverpool Royal Hospital and told the ECHO he usually finishes his shift late in the evening.

After the journey home to New Brighton, Wirral, Steve parks wherever he can - often away from his own road as there are no spaces left.

Steve said his son alerted him to the note, which he said was placed in a "fake, yellow, waterproof ticket sleeve".

First Afghan refugees in Liverpool speak of terrifying escape and warm welcome from Scousers

Some of the first Afghan refugees to arrive in Liverpool after the Taliban takeover have spoken of their terrifying escape from the country and how the city has welcomed them with open arms.

The Taliban's sweep to power this summer saw huge numbers of people escaping from their country, in fear for their lives.

Dr Maryam Ghaleb and her family were among the first to arrive in the city.

Speaking about local people, Maryam said: "They have a soft corner for us here in their hearts, they have been very helpful. I see the people here trying to help everyone and especially the volunteer work that's going on for clothing, education, activities for the kids.

"It's a good place overall and nice people."
