Halloween in the USA vs Halloween in Scotland - 12 photos that sum up the difference

Halloween is a bit of an odd festival in the Scotland. We've never really gone absolutely crazy about it in the same way that they do in the US. In America, the entire country seems to turn entirely pumpkin-themed for the month of October.

However, here in Scotland, as with most holidays - it's really just an excuse to be daft and have a drink. If you're lucky, your mum might make you a costume out of a bin bag and let you stay up until 9pm.

If you're older, someone at your work (let's call her Karen) will put up some fake cobwebs and announce plans for a 'spooky cake competition' that no one will actually take part in. She'll probably wear plastic pumpkin deely-boppers on the day, and try and make you have fun. You'll refuse.

So we thought it might be quite funny to compare and contrast our fine country with the overambitious Halloween antics in the USA. It is Friday, after all. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
