Halloween festival lights up Paisley town centre

Paisley town centre has been transformed to give visitors an Out of this World experience.

The Halloween event is a spectacular trail of intergalactic installations and light displays around the town which began on Thursday night.

An alien invasion, spacecrafts, creatures from the deep and a constellation of stars all form part of the free, family-friendly trail.

Although there is no parade this year, the Halloween festival has transformed the town’s historic Abbey, Town Hall and White Cart river into an immersive ‘otherworldly’ experience.

Children from across Renfrewshire have also contributed inspiring artworks and messages that will feature on a spectacular spacecraft, Earthship1, which will be one of the major displays.

The installation, created by artist Mick Stephenson, will focus on issues around sustainability with components used to create the piece sourced from reclaimed materials.

Pauline Allan, events manager for Renfrewshire Council, said: “We are so happy to be able to celebrate Halloween again in Paisley with this unique, immersive trail that offers something a little different from our usual annual Halloween Festival.

“Everything will be in place for five days, so there’s more opportunity than ever before to come into the town centre and experience the trail.”

The five day event runs until Monday, November 1 with the illuminations on from 5pm till 10pm each night.
