Plenty of people plan their Halloween look months in advance. I am not one of those people.
Last year, having agreed to attend a Halloween party just hours before, my attempt at Day of the Dead makeup was so poor that the nightclub bouncer asked, rather baffled, “um…so what exactly are you supposed to be?”
With a week to go until the spookiest night of the year, I thought it best not to make the same mistake and enlist the help of an expert.
To show us how to do Halloween right, make-up artist Zoe Pratt paid a visit to the Evening Standard to demonstrate how to create a spectacular clown look that’s too good not to put on the 'gram.
Zoe explained: “This glam Halloween clown makeup is a fast, effective and achievable look, completed with many of the products you will already have in your makeup kit.
“Fancy something a little more freaky? Just broaden that smile and add some fake blood with glitter.”
What you'll need to do clown makeup:
- Bright pink blusher or eyeshadow for the cheeks
- Bright red lipstick or face paint for the lips
- Black liquid eyeliner or black face paint with a liner brush for outlining
- Black eyeshadow for shading
- Bright pink and blue eyeshadow for the eyes
- White and red face paint for the neck
- Fine pink glitter or a glitter gel for the eyelids and lips (optional)
- Chunky coloured glitter for the diamond shape around the eyes (optional)
- Vaseline to stick the glitter on with (optional)
- Big false eyelashes (optional)
- Red glitter blood drops by The Gypsy Shrine (optional)
