Halloween 2020: Can children go trick-or-treating?

Halloween is just a matter of weeks away but this year the spooky event which takes place on Saturday, October 31 may be slightly different than in previous years.

With the UK Government's current restrictions regarding the pandemic limiting the number of people meeting up to six, Halloween parties are definitely out the window - but what about trick-or-treating?

At the moment, there doesn't seem to be any official guidance regarding Halloween and the pandemic but according to TeessideLive, the official line from the UK Government is 'any guidance around Halloween, Bonfire Night or other gatherings will be announced in due course' and 'people and businesses would need to comply with regulations that apply nationally and any specific local guidance.'

And as reported by the Daily Mail, when asked whether trick-or-treating can go ahead, the Prime Minister's deputy spokesman said: "The Rule of Six is clear, it includes children. We are asking people not to meet in groups of six or more.

"In local lockdown areas we have been very clear that households should not mix. In other areas not in lockdown the Rule of Six applies.

"It is correct parents will be fined if children meet in groups of more than six children."

Do you think children should be allowed to go trick-or-treating? How are you celebrating Halloween? Let us know in the comments below.
