Halle Berry Returns To Psychological Thrillers In 'Never Let Go'

Halle Berry American actress

Halle Berry made a striking appearance in Las Vegas during Lionsgate's studio presentation to promote the upcoming film 'Never Let Go,' directed by Alexandre Aja. The psychological thriller, set for release on Sept. 27, marks Berry's return to a genre she previously explored in films like 'Gothika.' In 'Never Let Go,' Berry portrays a mother alongside her twin sons as they navigate a world filled with lurking evil, forcing them to remain connected by ropes to ensure their safety.

The film's plot revolves around the family's struggle for survival as one of the boys questions the reality of the threats they face. The trailer, unveiled during the presentation, showcases the gritty and suspenseful atmosphere of the movie, set in a remote house in the woods post-apocalyptic event.

Aja directed the film from a script by Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby, with a cast that includes Anthony B. Jenkins, Percy Daggs, Matthew Kevin Anderson, Christin Park, and Stephanie Lavigne. The production team includes producers Dan Cohen, Dan Levine, and Shawn Levy, with Berry serving as both a producer and an executive producer.

During the presentation, Berry expressed her enthusiasm for the project, citing her love for adrenaline-pumping movies and her childhood admiration for films like 'The Shining.' She discussed the challenges of portraying a mother in a secluded environment and the need to bring authenticity to her character's survival skills, which included skinning squirrels and consuming insects and raw frogs.

Berry also drew from her personal experiences as a mother of two to inform her performance, emphasizing the deep connection she feels to roles that involve protecting her children at all costs. Reflecting on her collaboration with Lionsgate, Berry fondly recalled her Oscar-winning role in 'Monster's Ball,' further solidifying her relationship with the studio.
