LYTHAM ST ANNES England: England's Georgia Hall birdied the 15th and 16th holes to pull away from Chaiyaphum's Pornanong "Waew" Phatlum and win the Women's British Open on Sunday.

While Hall made her birdies, the nine-year veteran Pornanong had her first horrible error of the tournament - a double-bogey on the 17th hole which handed victory to the crowd favourite.

Hall finished at 17-under for the tournament and the winner's purse of $504,821, while Pornanong finished two shots behind. So Yeon Ryu of South Korea was another two shots behind Pornanong.

Pornanong led the major tournament after the second and third rounds, with a chance to win her first title ever on the LPGA circuit.
