Ohio State vs. Wisconsin halftime report: Buckeyes struggle yet manage 10-0 lead

It wasn’t pretty, but Ohio State is winning in ugly weather.

The Buckeyes have taken a 10-0 lead into half after a scoreless first quarter. Thankfully, while Ohio State managed just ten points, it held the Badgers without many opportunities at all.

Wisconsin managed just 72 total yards and 26 through the air. This was a completely dominant effort by the Buckeye defense, holding arguably the top-rated running back to under 30 yards.

That said, Ohio State’s offense wasn’t overly dominant either.

The Buckeyes eight-play, 85-yard drive with under three minutes left capped off by a 27-yard strike from Justin Fields to Chris Olave extended their lead to 10, but it was truly the only successful drive for Ohio State. This touchdown was huge for the Buckeyes momentum heading into the half.

After just two pass attempts the entire first quarter, Fields got going a little bit, throwing for over 100 in the first half. He was just one of the few Buckeyes that were able to find some rhythm against the weather and a stout Badger defense.

Chase Young has a pair of sacks that completed changed Wisconsin drives. This was just as important as the many Jonathon Taylor stuffs the Buckeyes were able to get as well.

Overall, Ohio State is positioned well for a strong second half and finish.
