Halftime analysis: Panthers trail Packers 14-10

The Carolina Panthers got out to an early 7-0 lead against the Green Bay Packers, but they’ve since surrendered it and go into the locker room trailing 14-10.

One of our keys to the game was the defense being able to contain Aaron Rodgers in the pocket. That hasn’t happened at all. Rodgers has consistently escaped pressure, broken containment and made some devastating throws down the field. Aaron Jones has scored two cleanup touchdowns, accounting for all of Green Bay’s points.

Offensively, quarterback Kyle Allen (11/13, 107 passing yards) flashed some mobility of his own in the first quarter to keep plays alive. He has also established a rhythm with wide receiver D.J. Moore, who leads the team with four catches and 57 yards.

Allen lost another fumble in the second quarter though, which led to a quick scoring drive for the Packers and killed all of Carolina’s momentum.

As for the team’s star, Christian McCaffrey hasn’t been able to get much going. Aside from one 18-yard run, he’s been quiet. At halftime, he has totaled just 51 yards from scrimmage on 12 touches and hasn’t scored.

The Packers get the ball to begin the third quarter.
