With the kids returning to school and parents back at work after the Christmas and New Year celebrations, it's perhaps no surprise that we're already wondering when our next holiday might be due.
As we struggle to adapt again to the daily routine and the January blues settle in, many families set their sights on the spring half term to give themselves something to look forward to.
School holidays can sometimes take place at different times in the North East so parents need to be on the alert especially if they're planning a trip away - Covid-permitting - or a staycation.

We have drawn up a guide to the 2022 term dates for schools in and around Newcastle to help with pre-planning for those who have school-age children - and to help avoid those peak family times for those who haven't.
Newcastle City Council reminds parents it's always worth checking direct with their children's teachers as individual schools can set their own term dates - although they are encouraged to follow the same as the local authority.
And Gateshead Council adds that schools will be closed on May 2 and July 1 due to there being additional bank holidays for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee which falls during the May half-term.
Spring Half Term
Schools will break up on February 18 and the holiday runs from February 21-25, with schools reopening on February 28.
Term will end on April 8.
Easter
Most North East schools are off for Easter between Friday, April 8 and Monday, April 25.
Good Friday is April 15, Easter Sunday is April 17 and Easter Monday is April 18.
Whit Week or May/Summer Half Term
The half-term holiday runs from Monday, May 30 until Friday, June 3, with schools breaking up on May 27 and returning on June 6.
Summer
Schools break up for summer on Friday, July 22 (July 21 in Durham) and return on Monday, September 5.
The start of the autumn term can be affected if schools have training days/staff development in place. Another occasional day could be used for election purposes.
October half-term
The week's holiday will run from October 24-28. The end of term will be December 23.
