Edinburgh residents will be able to enjoy 50% off meals out from August.
Today the UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the new 'Eat Out to Help Out' initiative, which aims to help restart the economy after lockdown.
As part of the scheme, businesses will be able to offer half price meals from Monday to Wednesday and claim the money back from the UK Government.
The new discount is hoped to encourage locals to begin eating out again and contributing to the local economy.
However, the 50% off will be up to a maximum discount of £10 per head for everyone, including children.
To be supported under the new scheme, businesses across the country will have to register online from Monday next week.
Today the Chancellor also announced a six month VAT cut to encourage shoppers to begin spending on the high street.

He told the commons: “I can announce today that, for the month of August, we will give everyone in the country an ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ discount.
“Meals eaten at any participating business, Monday to Wednesday, will be 50% off, up to a maximum discount of £10 per head for everyone, including children. Businesses will need to register, and can do so through a simple website, open next Monday.
“Each week in August, businesses can then claim the money back, with the funds in their bank account within five working days.”
