Half: Ohio State holds Cincinnati scoreless, shows formidable defense

We all know what the Buckeyes are going to get from J.K. Dobbins and Justin Fields so it was no suprise to see them score 28 points.

What did come as a surprise was the donut that Cincinnati had. Even Florida Atlantic put up some points in the first half.

That said, the Buckeyes, at halftime, lead 28-0. They’re looking as lethal as ever. After a slow start on their first drive, Ohio State started to pile it on the Bearcats.

The most notable play of the half was Dobbins’ 60-yard run midway through the second quarter. This was his fourth-straight game with a rushing touchdowns.

Quarterback Justin Fields also got in on the rushing action with his own seven-yard touchdown run. The duo has looked dynamic on the ground and has been adequate through the air.

It’s the defense that really made the difference though, Chase Young in particular. Young blocked a 32-yard field goal attempt, a huge part of OSU keeping Cincinnati off the board. Young also helped combine for a sack.

The only concern so far has been the coverage for OSU. They’ve given up two 20-plus-yard plays. If those were removed, this defense would be looking as dominant as ever.

Overall, it was a great half, and it’s clear that they’re going to end all chance for Cincinnati in the second half.
