Half-naked boy, 15, found dead inside gran's freezer after 'climbing in to cool down’

A teenage boy died after climbing into his grandma's freezer to cool down, police have claimed.

Jose Eduardo Rosa was found dead inside the freezer at his grandmother's property in the neighbourhood of Vila Adelina in the west-central Brazilian city of Campo Grande on 11 January.

The 15-year-old's body was found wearing only underpants.

While police have ruled out the possibility of murder and suicide, the exact cause of his death is not clear.

However, signs point to a sudden illness, possibly resulting from the use of anabolic steroids and asphyxiation.

Police claimed Jose got in the freezer when the house was empty having entered the property using a hidden key.

When he was discovered by his older brother, a number of chairs were found placed in a circle in the garden, suggesting the teen had not been alone.

Jose's death was particularly tragic for his family, as it came one week after his uncle died and a month after his grandfather lost his life.

His brother, 26-year-old refrigerator technician Leonardo, told local media: "Everyone liked him."

The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.
