Hale Country Club announce extension plans – but residents aren’t happy

Plans have been tabled for an extension of the Hale Country Club.

The proposals from The Hut Group include an expansion of the club’s car park, a brand new extension to the ground floor of the building, re-cladding the whole of the outside of the site and a refurbishment for the south terrace.

The update of the south terrace is set to include construction of a new pavilion, pergola, serving area and external toilet facility.

A new all weather pitch and football pitch are set to be added to the north of the site too and the whole site is set for landscaping.

The plans are set to be decided by Trafford council next week.

A number of nearby residents have already written to the council to object to the plans – with their concerns surround the increased traffic the larger site could attract, the associated noise and light pollution and reduced water pressure to nearby homes.

One resident wrote: “We already suffer the effects of loud beat music from the north side of the club.”

Another said: “[We] have seen an incredible increase in the use of [Clay Lane] by all kinds of traffic including enormous lorries.”

Another resident highlighted concerns about the plans, since a colony of bats is known to live within the country club site.

In the proposals, the new car park will actually have fewer spaces than the current one does – going from 252 spaces to 220.

The planned extension will increase the site’s footprint from 3476 square metres to 3712 square metres.

Trafford’s planning committee will consider the application on Thursday February 10 from 6.30pm.
