
Yokozuna Hakuho notched his seventh consecutive victory to start the July Grand Sumo Tournament by forcing out No. 3 maegashira Kiribayama on Saturday at Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan.
New ozeki Asanoyama also moved to 7-0 by forcing out No. 3 maegashira Takarafuji, and fellow ozeki Takakeisho defeated No. 4 maegashira Kagayaki to collect his fifth victory.
Meanwhile, sekiwake Shodai (6-1) downed No. 4 maegashira Aoiyama for his fourth consecutive win. Sekiwake Mitakeumi won by default after No. 5 maegashira Abi withdrew from the basho.
