Hakuho secures kachikoshi win

Yokozuna Hakuho notched his eighth straight victory at the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament in Osaka on Sunday with a win over No. 4 maegashira Abi.

Sunday's victory also represented an eighth kachikoshi win for Hakuho, who remains unbeaten throughout the tournament.

Fellow yokozuna Kakuryu pushed out No. 3 maegashira Mitakeumi for his sixth win overall, while ozeki Takakeisho improved to 5-3 by defeating komusubi Hokutofuji.

Sekiwake Asanoyama was thrown down by No. 3 maegashira Yutakayama for his second defeat of the tournament.

Fellow sekiwake Shodai evened his record at 4-4 by forcing out No. 5 maegashira Ryuden.
