Yokozuna Hakuho and new ozeki Asanoyama remained unbeaten on the eighth day of the July Grand Sumo Tournament on Sunday at Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan.

The two posted their kachikoshi eighth victories, ensuring a winning record at the basho.

Hakuho slapped down No. 4 maegashira Kagayaki, while Asanoyama forced out No. 4 maegashira Aoiyama.

Takakeisho, who is in kadoban status and could drop from the second-highest rank of ozeki if he finishes the tournament with a losing record, lost to No. 5 maegashira Hokutofuji. Takakeisho fell to 5-3.

In an all-sekiwake matchup, Shodai defeated Mitakeumi, leaving both at 7-1.

Terunofuji, who is back in the uppermost makuuchi division this basho, also improved to 7-1 by defeating No. 16 maegashira Nishikigi.
