Hakim Ziyech's response to Frank Lampard claim will delight Chelsea fans after Burnley win

Forty-eight hours after Frank Lampard eulogised over Hakim Ziyech's character, the Moroccan delivered another impressive performance in yesterday's 3-0 win away to Burnley - and then explained why confidence is such a key part of his game,

The trip to Turf Moor was Ziyech's first Premier League start, coming off the back of a good midweek showing away to Krasnodar in the Champions League.

Patience was required for the right winger as he had to recover from a pre-season knee injury but his impact has been immediately noticeable - scoring the opener against Sean Dyche's side yesterday while assisting for Timo Werner's goal having also provided a goal and an assist in Russia.

"It has been a really good week for me and hopefully we can continue," the Moroccan told Chelsea's in-house media after yesterday's game.

"Especially after the European game, coming here [to Burnley], I think we did a really good game. We started well and gave Burnley problems. They had one big chance at the beginning but after that we controlled the game."

Speaking ahead of the trip north, Lampard said that Ziyech was a dream to work with and his confidence is much-needed in a team that the head coach felt lacked character at times last season.

"I really like him as a personality," the head coach said. "I had conversations with him very early when we signed him and was struck by his confidence.

"There is an inner confidence which I love. We needed that. We need players with confidence and personality who believe they should be here and want to offer something. He has been an absolute dream to work with."

In response, Ziyech said: "It is one of the most important things, that you play with confidence and don’t be scared of making mistakes. Life at Chelsea is good, I am where I am supposed to be. I feel good and feel at home and everything is fine."
