Hakim Ziyech reveals how Chelsea squad reacted to Romelu Lukaku's Inter Milan transfer admission

Hakim Ziyech has stated that the Chelsea squad have supported Romelu Lukaku whilst he's been under-fire for his recent shock interview.

The Belgian admitted he was 'not happy' with his current situation in west London, also talking up a move back to Inter Milan.

Many supporters' reaction to the revelations were, as expected, not too positive, with some Blues fans shocked by Lukaku's actions.

In an apologetic video released by the Blues, he reaffirmed his desire to represent the club.

Lukaku said: "They don’t need to question that [commitment]. At the end of the day, I always said I wanted to come here to be successful, that’s why I signed a five-year deal. I think Chelsea as a club is equal to success.

"I think all the players who come here are winning and I have a special passion for this club and I want to achieve that with this football club and want to win here for many years.

"That’s why I signed a five-year deal and I want to make sure I show my commitment in training every day and in games for this football club."

However, Lukaku's teammate Ziyech has insisted that the squad have supported their frontman and will continue to do so as they look to improve heading into the business half of the season.

Speaking to Viasport, via the Metro, after Chelsea's 2-0 win over Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, Ziyech said: “He had his interview and I think it’s better to leave it that way.

“We as players and team-mates have to support him after what happened. He is part of us.

“We have to keep pushing him and support him. Let’s keep it behind us and focus on what’s coming.”

The club, players and Lukaku seem to have drawn a line under the incident which will only bode well for the Blues, who are heading into a tricky run of games that includes a trip to Manchester City next Saturday and the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final with Tottenham.
