Hakim Ziyech reacts on Instagram as Chelsea return to Premier League action

Hakim Ziyech is counting down the days until he officially becomes a Chelsea player.

The attacking midfielder's £33.4m transfer from Ajax has been agreed since February and his contract comes into effect from July 1.

Until then, the Morocco international will be cheering on his new teammates from home - just like he did when the Blues returned to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon.

With Manchester United and Tottenham sharing the points on Friday night, coupled with back-to-back defeats for Arsenal inside three days, Champions League football for 2020/21 is looking like a realistic possibility for the west London outfit.

And they took a huge step towards sealing a top-four spot at Villa Park.

Quickfire second-half goals from Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud turned the game in Chelsea's favour after they had trailed at the break.

The result moves them five points clear of the Red Devils and just three behind Leicester City in third.

Such was the importance of the victory that defender Antonio Rudiger took to Instagram to share a message with supporters.

His post was seen by Ziyech who reacted by replying with a clapping emoji, giving Rudiger and co his seal of approval.

Ziyech will be one of two new arrivals at Stamford Bridge next month after the Blues confirmed the sigining of Timo Werner last week.

Head coach Frank Lampard admits the double deal will increase the pressure on his shoulders.

"Yeah it probably does, and I get that,” said Lampard ahead of his side’s trip to Aston Villa. "There's pressure in the Chelsea job whatever.

"There are expectations to whatever degree, we're a well-supported club, well-followed club and scrutiny is big as we know.

"That's why we love the Premier League and why we're trying to do our best. So I don't mind the idea, I get it.

"We're trying to improve here. I'm under no illusions. I want us to improve first and foremost.”
