Hakim Ziyech on Chelsea debut date amid Premier League uncertainty

Incoming Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech has addressed talk of him making his debut this season amid the ongoing uncertainty over the Premier League season.

The winger in February agreed a £37.8million move to Stamford Bridge for the summer, and confirmed on Friday that he will become a Blues player on July 1.

"My signature is on the contract and so yes, on July 1 I will be a Chelsea player," he told Dutch media. "I've never had any other thought."

There has been confusion over when Ziyech could be registered to play for Chelsea with the Premier League season not expected to finish before July 1, should it resume.

Ziyech is equally in the dark, telling reporters: "I have contact with the coach [Frank Lampard], but for them it's also not very clear what it going to happen there and as long as that is not clear for them, it's not clear for me."

On Friday, the Eredivisie was officially ended with no title or relegation handed out. Ajax were leading the title race at the time, but Ziyech does not feel like he is a champion.

He continued: "No, no, because there is no trophy given, you know, and for me, as I leave at the end of the season, I would have liked to make a beautiful ending.

"For other guys in the team it's not clear what will happen, but as far as I am concerned, it's a pity that I can not conclude it better."
