A protester in the Senate gallery interrupted Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., shortly before the Senate Court of Impeachment’s dinner break at 6:30 p.m., by yelling comments at the senators seated a floor below.
The comments were not audible in their in entirety, but the protester could be heard yelling “Jesus Christ” and “Schumer is the devil” before being removed.
“The Sergeant at Arms will restore order in the gallery,” Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. said from the rostrum.
Jeffries quickly responded to the protester by turning to Psalm 37:28. “For the Lord loves justice and will not abandon his faithful ones,” he said from the lectern, before continuing with his testimony.
On the third floor outside the chamber, the protester continued shouting while being taken into custody, mentioning abortion and "dismiss the charges."
The individual is known to many at the Capitol for protesting against abortion.
