Hairy Bikers star says 'tough' Dave Myers is 'still in trenches' of cancer treatment

Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers is still in the "trenches" of his cancer treatment, his friend Si King has revealed.

Si appeared on The One Show today where he chatted with hosts Alex Jones and Ronan Keating about his friend Dave.

The chef, 65, revealed earlier this year he is battling cancer, with fans sending their well-wishes to the much-loved star.

As Si spoke about Dave's health, he insisted he is doing really well and is a "tough old boot".

Speaking on The One Show, host Ronan said: "You're flying solo today. Dave is continuing his cancer treatment.

"We've had so much love on social media. This came from David, who said, I send my best wishes to Dave. The Hairy Bikers helped me when I was low. Watching their programmes always bought a smile to my face. I hope his recovery is going well."

Si then added: "It's going really well. He's still in the trenches of his chemo and treatment but all the numbers are going well and he's getting stronger by the day and more positive by the day. He's a tough old boot, you know, he's from Barrow in Furness.

"He's not going to give up easily. He certainly isn't. He's doing great, man. Thank you. And all of us, everyone involved with the Bikers, Dave, his wife Lil and the kids, the amount of love that comes over social media is remarkable."

He concluded: "It's so appreciated and we loved it; thank you."

Ronan and Alex were thrilled to hear a good health update from Si, as he explained the numbers were getting better for Dave week by week.

Dave revealed he was battling cancer as he spoke with his friend Si on their podcast, explaining: "I maybe a baldy biker for a while… it's simply something I have to live with.

"Anyway Kingy, I've got to come clean now, I haven't been too well recently and basically, I've got to have some chemo, you know all this anyway, so this year is going to be a bit quiet for me, I'm not going to be filming, some of the festivals I'm not going to be able to go to, some may be okay but this year's a bit of a write off for us.

"I have had to speak up about this because I don't want to hide under a rock, but I would love it if people respected my privacy and just let me get on with it and give Si and our team all the support they need, that would be great."

He added: "But look, the prognosis is okay, I'm going to be fine. I've just got to tuck in, look after myself, eat sensibly and get over this mess, flog books, and be a happy person so within that, that's where I am. I may be a baldy biker for a while so it's just a warning, I don't want to make a fuss about it, I look alright bald actually."
