Hairy Bikers chef Si King shares health update on co-star Dave Myers after cancer diagnosis
Celebrity chef Si King shared a health update on his co-star Dave Myers who announced earlier this month he had been diagnosed with cancer. The Hairy Bikers star Si joined ITV's This Morning to explain his close friend Dave was "as tough as an old boot".
Dave recently revealed to fans he had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy treatment in his Agony Uncles podcast with pal Si. The 64-year-old asked fans to respect his privacy but explained "the prognosis is okay", The Mirror reports.
Si went solo on the ITV daytime programme on which he presented the cooking segment making a chicken and spinach curry. Hosts Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes were keen to know how Dave was, with Phillip asking: "First question is going to be how is Dave?".
"He's doing okay," the 55-year-old replied, "He's doing okay, he remains really positive and pretty focused on his treatment. He's typically Dave, he's as tough as an old boot. He's doing grand, thank you for asking.
"Well weird for you cooking alone today," Phillip replied. Si added how "odd" it felt doing the segment without his fellow Hairy Biker, telling the hosts: "It's a bit odd without my mate, I have to say but no, it's good".
Speaking on the podcast. Dave said: "I have had to speak up about this because I don't want to hide under a rock, but I would love it if people respected my privacy and just let me get on with it and give Si and our team all the support they need, that would be great. But look, the prognosis is okay, I'm going to be fine."
"I've just got to tuck in," He continued: "Look after myself, eat sensibly and get over this mess, flog books, and be a happy person so within that, that's where I am and I may be a baldy biker for a while, so it's just a warning. I don't want to make a fuss about it, I look alright bald actually".
To which his co-star Si said: "No listen, when I first met you dude you looked like an upside-down Hells Angel so I like that look, I've always liked that look. You look cool".
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub from 10am.
