Sometimes it feels like there's a new haircare lesson to be learned every day - and it can be hard to keep up. From double shampooing to the reason why you shouldn't go to bed with wet locks, there's lots of tricks you ought to know.
Thankfully, one hairstylist has made the process a whole lot easier as she regularly shares a bunch of tips in one go. The expert, who posts under the username @simplysavvy16, boasts over 12,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares her latest advice, and one video that caught the attention of over two million viewers has been praised for including 'life-changing' tips.
In the viral video, the expert explains how you can use a blow dryer to help with oily hair, among a range of popular tricks. Her easy-to-follow advice: "If you blow dry ur [sic] hair before bed it will be less oily."
She also recommends using dryer sheets when you've got static hair and 'always' shampooing twice.
Elsewhere, she advised: "10 days dirty hair does not make your colour 'stick better'" and she explained: "Your purple shampoo can make your hair darker."
As commenters were quick to point out, hair care is often dependent on the type of hair you have, but many reinforced several of the lessons the hairstylist revealed.
Sharing insight into her nighttime routine, one commenter said: "I always blow dry my hair before bed! I use great heat protectant and oil, my hair has never been healthier. ALWAYS double shampoo."
Meanwhile, others agreed and added their own positive experience of double shampooing. "Double shampooing changed my life," said one. A second response read: "Yall.... i recently started shampooing twice and its a LIFE saver."
When it comes to preventing greasy hair, the temperature you wash it at is also important, as Gareth Williams, Consumer Colourist at SALON64 in London, previously told The Mirror.
"One of the biggest mistakes people make when washing their hair is using water that's too hot," he explained. "You want to make sure that the water is tepid.
The expert added: "When you're washing your hair, you're actually activating the sebaceous glands and using water that's too hot, or using a shampooing technique that's too vigorous on the hair fibre will actually cause the sebaceous glands to become reactive and therefore can make your hair greasy."
