Hairdresser shares exact number of times to wash hair as results labelled 'life-changing'

Washing our hair is something we all do, but according to one hairdresser many of us aren't doing it right.

Amy has got people rethinking their morning routine after claiming that you should lather shampoo on your head twice every single time you wash your hair.

The mother explained the process on a TikTok video as she showed users how to "wash your hair like a pro".

It involves using a general application of shampoo first, before rinsing it off and then going for a second time - this time focusing on your scalp, Mirror UK reports.

In her video, posted on her @amy.does.some.hair account, she explained: "Thoroughly wet your hair, spread the shampoo over your hands and evenly distribute the shampoo all over your scalp.

"Using the tips of your fingers, massage the shampoo all over your scalp. Don't miss your hairline or nape.

"Rinse and repeat.

"Focus on the scalp. Use the suds to gently pass through the ends."

After rinsing the second round of shampoo, you just need to condition it as normal - making sure to avoid the roots - and you should be all set.

Amy added: "Apply conditioner to the ends, avoiding the roots. Let it sit for a minute or two, [then do a] cool rinse if you can stand it."

TikTok users were blown away by the suggestion, with many commenting to say they tried it out and were shocked by the results.

One person said: "I was curious and tried this, and my hair is super soft and feels cleaner. Excuse me, what?"

Another added : "I have oily hair and actually noticed a difference shampooing twice! Felt and looked cleaner."

While a third wrote: "My life changed when I did it twice. Well actually, I use a scrub for my scalp first and then shampoo, but no more dandruff for me!"
