Drying your hair can be a tedious task, but it's one that many will undertake in order to achieve the perfect bouncy blow dry. You'll probably put your hairdryer on without giving it much thought, but one hairdresser has warned that you may be doing something that is damaging your hair without even realising it.
In fact, hairdresser Emily Rose Pytel, who posts on TikTok as @emilyrosepytel, said that people may be inadvertently 'frying' their hair as a result of missing one simple step when setting up their hairdryer. She captioned the video: "Just throwing this out there because a lot of people do not know."
Whilst holding a hairdryer and dancing, she wrote over the video: "If you don't have the attachment on your blow dryer, you are frying your hair", followed by a peace sign emoji.
People in the comments were wondering why this is, and one helpful user explained: "Because otherwise your hairs end up touching the hot metal on the end that is not meant to touch hair, and it fries the ends off."
Emily clarified: "The attachment directs the airflow and smoothes down the cuticle, without the attachment, your hair cuticle is being blown open, leading to breakage!"
Deseo salon recommended some top tips for drying your hair successfully. They include 'using products to protect your hair', 'avoiding the high heat setting', and 'using the right hairdryer tools', which Emily is recommending.
Someone commented on the video wondering why the attachment comes off if it can damage your hair, writing: "Why do they come off is the question!"
Others were being defiant to the suggestion, however, with one user commenting: "Nope, I hate it. Takes forever to dry my hair. I'd rather keep frying it, thanks!"
Emily also recommended picking an attachment up from Amazon if you accidentally threw it away, not knowing what it was for.
Will you be using your attachment from now on? Let us know in the comments.
