Hair stylist's toast experiment shows why you should always use heat protector spray

If you've ever wondered whether that pricey bottle of heat protect spray for your hair was worth the money, then you're going to want to keep reading this.

That's because a hair stylist has shown just how valuable the stuff really is.

Bethany Honey, from Accrington, Lancashire, recently conducted an experiment using a piece of toast and the results are blowing people's minds.

The 27-year-old took a slice of Warburton's white bread and covered half of one side in Neal and Wolf Guard heat protector spray.

She let it dry for a few seconds, before popping the bread in the toaster, as normal, as if she were preparing it to eat.

When the toast is done, she takes it out, showing how the part she sprayed is completely unaffected by the heat, while the rest has toasted and turned golden brown.

Bethany goes on to compare the different parts of the toast to protected and unprotected hair.

She said: "I've been doing hair styling videos because I can't work at the salon in lockdown and I remembered something from my apprenticeship.

"My boss used to put heat protector on one of my hands and then explain to people that on one hand you wouldn't feel burning, but on the other hand, without it, you would.

"I thought I'd try it with bread and it might not burn the toast.

"It just shows the importance of heat protector so the heat doesn't damage or burn people's hair. It might not look like the heat protector is doing a lot, but the video proves that it is."

She added: "It's definitely worth spending the money on it."

Bethany shared the video on her Facebook page and Instagram account @bethanyhoneyhair.

It quickly went viral, being shared more than 900 times on Facebook.

One person commented: "What the hell!!! I never use it anymore. Definitely investing in some now."

Another wrote: "This proves why you need to use stuff on your hair."

A third added: "WHAT haha. This is such an interesting video."
