Hair found in search for missing toddler who fell down 350ft well

Rescuers have found hair belonging to missing two-year-old boy Julen Rosello in a 350ft well, officials revealed today as a desperate search for him continued for a fourth day.

The hair was found on Sunday and was confirmed as Julen’s today after DNA tests.

The news came as two tunnels were being dug in an attempt to reach the boy, who vanished on Sunday after falling down a 10in-wide borehole in countryside near Malaga.

A Swedish firm which helped locate 33 Chilean miners, who were rescued in 2010 after 69 days underground, has joined the massive operation.

Civil Guard officers leading the rescue attempt have not yet seen the youngster on a rotating camera lowered into the borehole on a robot, spotting only a bag of sweets and a plastic cup by a blockage of sand and earth 250ft down.

Police insist they are working on the basis Julen is still alive, although privately officials admit that the chances of him surviving so long underground are slim.

His three-year-old brother Oliver died in 2017 from a heart defect. His father José said: “The only thing I can say is, ‘Stay calm, Julen. Daddy loves you and your brother is going to help us.’”
