Hailey Bieber Redefined Kitchen Style for 2026 With the Midnight Blue 'New Neutral' Designers Can’t Stop Talking About

Hailey Bieber.

Hailey Bieber's choice of midnight blue cabinets perfectly embodies what some designers are calling 'a new neutral,' a term to be used with care, but which seems accurate in this case.

'Dark blue has become 'a new neutral' and is here to stay, especially in kitchens,' explains designer Kasia Kronberger from Studio Bosko. The hue is right on-trend, and nowhere showcases its beauty quite like Hailey Bieber's blue cabinet color.

In her YouTube series, What's In My Kitchen, we got a peek at their real kitchen – not a set, as Hailey clarifies – and were immediately drawn to the dominant dark kitchen cabinet colors as she cooked her go-to breakfast. And we're not alone in admiring this bold yet adaptable color.

For a subtle nod to this Hailey-approved trend, try introducing rich blue tones with items like these beautiful linens (from Target), or chose from my handpicked blue accessories below.

'Dark blue color is a fantastic way to bring interest to your kitchen without risking a short-term fad,' Kasia Kronberger notes.

'These tones are softer than minimalist blacks and more characterful than ubiquitous grays.' She adds that deep shades, like midnight or stormy blue, work well with both Shaker kitchen cabinetry and simpler Scandinavian design, offering 'a timeless yet never boring visual result.'

The versatility of dark blue is one of its greatest strengths. As the fall and winter seasons bring a desire for cozy, deeper tones indoors, this color palette feels especially relevant. Kasia suggests following Hailey's example by pairing the cabinets with natural materials such as marble or quartz on a countertop, brass hardware, and oak parquet flooring for a stylish and enduring space.

'In Studio Bosko, we've been designing dark blue kitchens for our clients for a few years, and they don't go out of style,' she explains. 'Blue is such a great color for a kitchen. It's a great neutral, giving the trend longevity. The rich navy pairs with any color hardware. I see it as the new neutral. I love to see this color used in kitchen cabinetry,' she reinforces. The color, like the deepening shades of the late-year sky, provides a grounding yet sophisticated backdrop.'

For further accenting, Monica recommends a 'checkerboard floor or terracotta' to make the blue pop. 'I have been using a lot of different marbles as backsplash and countertops paired with blue cabinets. I love it,' she adds.
