Hailey Bieber had to call parents to ask if being with Justin Bieber was a 'bad idea'

Hailey Bieber has revealed she needed reassurance from her parents prior to getting married to Justin Bieber.

Speaking on Seasons, Justin’s new YouTube documentary series, the model recalled how the duo dated briefly in 2016 but that “things went south for a little bit” and the couple went their separate ways.

In spite of this, Hailey said she “knew” that Justin was going to be somebody she loved for the rest of her life.

Nonetheless, the then-22-year-old still wanted confirmation from her parents, actor Stephen Baldwin and Kennya Baldwin. So when the couple decided they wanted to get married, Hailey phoned them.

“I said this is the time you need to stop me from doing something crazy if you think this is a bad idea,” Hailey recalled.

"In my heart, I knew this is what I wanted to do but I was like, 'Just tell me right now if you think whoa, just relax and take a breath and think about this and see how you feel in like 24 hours or a week or something' and they were like, 'Honestly we think that this is meant to be for you.'”

The couple got engaged in July 2018 and got married two months later in New York by obtaining a marriage license from the city's marriage bureau.

They hosted a second ceremony in September 2019 at Somerset Chapel in South Carolina.

Elsewhere in Seasons, Justin talks about how forgiving Hailey is of his actions.

"Every time I do something stupid she forgives me," he tells the camera, adding: "I think she's the only one who can put up with me."

The launch of Seasons comes after Justin's ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez, opened up about their relationship in a candid interview with NPR.

"I do feel I was a victim to certain abuse,” Gomez said, later clarifying that she believed she was subject to emotional abuse during her on-off relationship with the singer.

Justin's representatives did not respond to The Independent's requests for comment.
