Hailey Baldwin reveals she 'cried all night' while gripped by anxiety

Hailey Baldwin has revealed that she was “crying in her hotel room all night” at the very height of her battle with anxiety.

Baldwin, 22, opened up about her mental wellbeing in a candid interview with Glamour, in which she talked about “not being able to sleep” and how she found help and solace in therapy and meditation.

“There was a time in the industry when it was negative to talk about that kind of stuff,” she said. “Nobody wanted to talk about what was really happening, and everybody felt like there was this pressure to keep up a facade.

“[People would say] 'Oh, we're really happy. I'm really happy. I'm doing fine,' when really it was like you're kind of crumbling on the inside. And I think I used to do that a little bit.

“People would ask me, 'How are you?' and I'd be like, 'I'm fine; I'm good'. But really I'd be crying in my hotel room all night.”

Baldwin, who married Justin Bieber last year, revealed that she “likes to meditate” to deal with her mental health, having been inspired by a book she once read.

The star said: “I read a book a year and a half ago when I was struggling horribly with anxiety - really, really bad. I couldn't sleep. I was just going through a time, and I read a book.

“It's not spiritual; it doesn't have to be religious. It's not religious at all, actually. It's more like a body-function meditation. It's all about knowing that you don't have to be ruled by your thoughts.”

Baldwin added that the “answer” is rooted in “therapy, meditation and faith” which has helped her in her anxiety struggles.

Bieber has also spoken openly about his mental health, and this year asked fans to “pray for him” because he was “struggling a lot” and “feeling disconnected and weird”.

In March, the 25-year-old updated fans on his wellbeing with an emotional Instagram statement.

He wrote: “Just wanted to keep you guys updated a little bit hopefully what I’m going through will resonate with you guys. Been struggling a lot. Just feeling super disconnected and weird.

“I always bounce back so I’m not worried just wanted to reach out and ask for your guys to pray for me.”

He has since revealed that he is taking a step back from music to focus on sorting “deep rooted issues” and working on his marriage.
