New set photos have confirmed that actor and musician Hailee Steinfeld will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kate Bishop, aka Hawkeye.
Steinfeld will take on the role for the Disney+ series Hawkeye, which was announced last year at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Kate Bishop will be the MCU’s second iteration of Hawkeye, following on from Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton, who appeared in several Marvel films including the Avengers franchise.
Renner will also reprise the role of Barton in the Disney+ series, teaming up with Steinfeld’s character.
Marvel Studios has kept many of the details about the series under wraps, with news of Renner’s return first confirmed in filming notices.
New photos posted to Twitter clearly show Renner and Steinfeld on set and in-costume, with the latter holding the character’s signature bow and arrow.
In the Marvel Comics, Kate Bishop is the daughter of a wealthy businessman who trains herself to fight after one day being assaulted.
When Hawkeye is presumed dead, she takes over in his stead, later teaming up with him when he returns.
Steinfeld is known for her roles in Bumblebee, True Grit and The Edge of Seventeen, and currently stars in the Apple TV+ series Dickenson.
Hawkeye is one of several Marvel adaptations being produced for Disney’s streaming service, alongside The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, Ms Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.
