Hail showers and sleet expected in Glasgow as -1C temperatures chill city

Hail showers and sleet is expected in Glasgow next week a the temperature plummets to -1C.

Updating their predictions at 9am today (December 30), weather forecasters have said that Glasgow is in for a pretty chilly week.

The sub zero temperatures will occur on Tuesday (January 4) with a high of just 4C expected.

A few days later on Thursday (January 6), hail showers will arrive and are expected to last three hours from 12pm and ending at around 3pm. Temperatures this day should have highs of 5C and lows of 3C.

The following day (January 7) is when the sleet should arrive in the city. Temperatures on Friday should also have highs of 5C and lows of 3C.

According to BBC Weather, today will see spells of rain ease off early in the afternoon. It will then be drier with a few sunny spells and will continue to be "breezy and unseasonably mild" with rain developing in the south.

Tonight will see heavy rain at times though this is set to "taper to showers overnight" with the "breezy and very mild" conditions continuing throughout the night.

Sunset will occur around 4:01pm today.
