- Haifa Smoked Fish has issued a nationwide recall for two types of its fish products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.
- The affected items are 8-oz packages of cold-smoked salmon (Lot 219) and cold-smoked sea bass (Lot 212), which were sold across the country.
- The contamination was identified after sampling and analysis by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors.
- Although no illnesses have been reported, Listeria infection can cause serious and sometimes fatal conditions, particularly in vulnerable groups such as young children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
- Consumers are urged to return the recalled products to their place of purchase for a full refund, with this recall following several other recent food withdrawals due to Listeria concerns.
