Haghill police incident: teenagers rushed to hospital after disturbance involving weapons

Two teenagers were rushed to hospital after a 'large scale disturbance involving weapons' involving up to eight people in Haghill.

Emergency services raced to the east end of Glasgow on Sunday evening after a 17-year-old and 18-year-old were found injured on Aberfeldy Street, following the incident on Cumbernauld Road.

The 17-year-old remains in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, however the 18-year-old has since been discharged.

Eyewitnesses last night told Glasgow Live of a 'running battle' between youngsters in the area and police have subsequently launched an investigation.

A Police Scotland statement this morning confirmed: "Around 5.40 pm last night, Sunday, 13 September, 2020, police were called after two men were found injured on Aberfeldy Street near to Walter Street, Haghill, Glasgow.

"The two men, aged 18 and 17 years, had been injured during a disturbance involving up to 8 people in nearby Cumbernauld Road. Both were taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where the 18 year old was treated and has since been discharged.

"The 17 year old man remains in the hospital for observations.

"Enquiries in to the incident are ongoing."

Police last night advised: “I can confirm there was a large scale disturbance on Walter Street in the Haghill area earlier this evening involving weapons. At least one person was injured and was taken to hospital. Enquiries are ongoing at the locus and elsewhere.”
