Hackney stabbings: 16-year-old boy charged with murder after two men stabbed in London

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death in broad daylight in Hackney, north London

The 29-year-old, named as Joshua White by his family, was rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries, Scotland Yard said in a statement.

A second man, also believed to be in his twenties was found nearby shortly afterwards.

He was taken to hospital, where he was said to be in a stable condition, police said.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon, London' Metropolitan Police said.

He will appear at Stratford Youth Court this week.

Mr White is the 41st person to be murdered in the capital this year, 26 of whom have been stabbed to death.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Vandenbergh said: “This was a shocking attack that happened in broad daylight in a residential area. Work, including CCTV analysis, continues but we also need to speak to people who witnessed this attack and the events surrounding it.

“Were you in the area and did you see anything? If so I would urge you to come forward and speak to police as soon as possible as you may have information that could assist this investigation.”
