Hackney stabbing: Teenager, 18, fights for life after being knifed in north-east London

A teenager was last night fighting for his life after being stabbed in north-east London.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to Arcola Street in Hackney where they found the 18-year-old victim on Wednesday evening.

He was rushed to hospital suffering knife wounds and was in a critical condition, Scotland Yard said.

Two men, aged 19 and 25, have been arrested on suspicion of assault. They were taken into custody.

Dramatic images from the scene showed a heavy police presence in Arcola Street, which was sealed off by police.

Officers were called shortly before 7.20pm.

“A police cordon is in place in Hackney following a stabbing this evening,” the Metropolitan Police said in statement.

“Two males in their mid-20s have been arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in police custody.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

Scotland Yard later confirmed that the victim's injuries were no longer life-threatening and that he is in a stable condition.
