Hackney stabbing: Boy, 15, knifed to death as second teen slashed nearby

A 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death in north London this evening.

A second boy, 16, was also found knifed nearby, Scotland Yard said.

Police were called to the scene in Hackney at 8.54pm today where they found a teenager, believed by officers to be 15, suffering from stab injuries.

He was given emergency first aid by officers before paramedics from London's Air Ambulance were called to the scene.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at 9.49pm.

His family have been informed.

The 16-year-old was found stabbed nearby. He was taken to hospital and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

No arrests have been made.

As a result of this incident a section 60 has been put in place for the whole of Hackney, Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

Hackney mayor Philip GLanville tweeted: "This is a tragic reminder of the challenges we all face tackling knife crime & protecting our young people.

"No one should lose their life like this; thoughts with family & those who went to respond."
