Shocking footage shows 'acid attack' victims being treated for burns after a car speeds off from the scene.
The broad daylight attack happened shortly after 7.20pm on Friday in Hackney, east London, with witnesses saying there had been a car chase moments earlier.
Both victims were taken to hospital, where their condition is described as non life-threatening.
In the footage, which was posted on social media, two men - who seemingly carried out the attack - are heard shouting "p****hole! p****hole".
The substance was reportedly hurled through a car window in front of shocked onlookers.
The men then drive away in a black Volkswagen, before the two victims are seen stumbling out of their car in a panic, desperately removing their clothes in the middle of the street.
A large group of people were seen pouring water over the men in an attempt to get the corrosive substance off them.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene.
In a statement the Met Police said: "Police were called at 7.21pm on Friday, 21 June to reports of a corrosive substance attack at Cricketfield Road, E5.
"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. At the scene two males, aged 20s, were found suffering from substance burns.
"Both injured males were taken to east London hospitals where their condition was assessed as non-life threatening.
"Officers from Hackney are investigating. No arrests have been made."
A police spokesman said detectives are aware of footage of the attack circulating on social media.
Just hours earlier a man had a substance thrown over him by two men in burkhas in Walthamstow, East London.
It happened at around 6.30am, before the attackers fled in a car.
