Bears safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will host a fundraising event with his “HERO Foundation” on Monday, Oct. 21 at the Dave & Buster’s in Vernon Hills. The proceeds will go toward the construction of a reading room at a to-be-named, low-income school in Chicago.
It will be the Pro Bowler’s first charity event as a member of the Bears. He signed a one-year, $5.5 million deal in March after spending 2018 with the Washington Redskins and Green Bay Packers.
The HERO Foundation was formed in 2017 to empower students of lower socioeconomic levels and provide them with mentorship.
Clinton-Dix has hosted events across Wisconsin, his hometown of Orlando and Washington D.C. since the foundation’s creation.
The event will consist of arcade games, food, a series of auctions and the opportunity to mingle with the two-time BCS national champion and a few of his Bears teammates.
The HERO Foundation has funded two similar reading rooms in the past. The first in January 2018 at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in Milwaukee and the second in Madison’s Mendota Elementary School, where the organization donated 600 books, furniture and amenities.
