After the first launch event for media and fashion influencers in New York this autumn, the first public Global Fashion Exchange (GFX) event was held in Los Angeles on 20 November.
Hundreds of fashion consumers participated in a giant clothing swap, designed to promote sustainable consumption and empower consumers to take actions for a better environment while renewing their wardrobes.
The GFX was presented to consumers at the Hollywood and Highland Central Courtyard where they swapped nearly 2,000 pounds of clothing. Consumers walked a ‘recycled carpet’ into the swap and chose new additions to add to their closets at no cost. They also received an H&M discount voucher as a reward for handing in their garments at the entrance.
In addition to all partners and sponsors in attendance, including the Danish Fashion Institute, H&M US, InTandem Creatives, Ford and I:CO, fashion industry and Hollywood influencers attended the swap. Vintage expert and co-owner of the renowned Decades boutique, Cameron Silver was at the event, as well as actor Brant Daugherty, fashion consultant Julie Gilhart and founder of Neuehouse, Oberon Sinclair.
