Fitness fans missing their exercise fix may soon be able to hit the treadmill again - but gyms will look very different to what they were before lockdown.
Gyms and fitness clubs were forced to close on March 21 as part of coronavirus lockdown measures imposed by the government.
There is still no indication of when they will be able to reopen, but industry bosses hope some venues could be back in business in July - although officials had previously said they would remain closed until at least October.
Fitness firms have been striving to make sure gyms will meet the necessary social distancing guidelines to protect both members and staff when they are allowed to reopen, MirrorOnline reports.
PureGym, which has more than 230 venues across the UK, has revealed a glimpse of what to expect when they are allowed to reopen.
It has laid out precautions which are likely to be enforced, including all members and staff being required to wear masks, and 'temperature checks routinely targeted, on staff entry and possibly members'.
Visitor numbers will be limited and members will likely have to pre-book a slot rather than simply being allowed to walk in.
Members or staff showing possible symptoms of Covid-19 may be refused entry.
Group exercise could be prohibited and 'lighter load' workouts will be encouraged to prevent heavy breathing.
Equipment will be spaced out to adhere to social distancing rules, with pictures released from inside one of the gyms showing white boxes marked out on the gym floor and studios.
PureGym has set out eight targeted objectives for reopening, which includes stringent cleaning requirements and measures being put in place to react to any changes locally and nationally.
It said: "The gym industry is making dramatic changes to reduce the risk of transmission of the SARS CoV-2 virus (aka CV-19) within facilities - and PureGym is in the vanguard of the effort.
"Gym facilities face specific risks which require targeted objectives and subsequent actions in order to reduce the potential incidence of contamination, transmission and infection."
