Gym bunny Gemma Atkinson shares her hair dilemma

Gemma Atkinson has presented a dilemma that will resonate with a lot of fellow fitness fanatics.

The Hits Radio host took to Instagram to post a photo of herself with long flowing locks, expressing her desire to grow her hair long again.

But the 36-year-old mother-of-one pointed out that no matter how great it looks, it would be difficult to manage because she loves the gym so much.

"I want long hair again, but I know when I’m training and working I’ll be moaning about it getting in the way. #firstworldproblems," she wrote.

Fans flocked to tell her that they understand the problem.

"My dilemma," said one.

"When I train I need to wash it but then it takes ages to dry it etc.... then this means I don't want to train as often. What's the answer?"

Another told her: "You are GORGEOUS! I have the same problem! But I think, because of exercise, life etc how often do you actually wear it down.

"Short is fresh, modern, makes me feel younger and my hair feels so healthy."

Another follower sympathised: "I feel this soooo much! I got a fringe cut in again because I missed having one… all it did was get pinned up and now going through the pain of growing it out."

And Gemma's fiance Gorka Marquez told her: "I fancy you with any hair."

In April the former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actress went in for a 'post lockdown chop' and emerged from the salon sporting shorter tresses.

"Finally got my hair cut and colour done and it feels great! Just to have someone else wash it was a joy," she said.

Last month Gemma, who has a two-year-old daughter Mia, started a new training plan to find out what her 'mind and body are capable of.'

"I’m not on a diet and exercise plan," she explained.

"Far from it. It’s a training plan fuelled with the right food for me (I say for me because we all eat differently. I’m vegetarian Gorka isn’t) My aim isn’t to lose weight, eat like a rabbit and have no social life.

!I’m actually eating more than I ever have with my nutritionist on board.

"I wanted to switch up my training and see what I’m capable of. See what my mind and body are capable of.

"It’s about wanting to perform better, to be better and to move better. Lift heavier and go for longer.

"I love feeling strong and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved on my personal journey so far, but I know I have more and with a team that’s way ahead of where I’m at I have something to aim for."

And she explained what had motivated her to take on this new plan.

"My health is the forefront of everything I do, especially now being a mum," she said.

"And off the back of a pandemic where so many peoples health has suffered I’m determined to make the most of mine.

"We have to, because without our health we have nothing."

And Gemma said she was bracing herself to brush off criticism over her appearance.

She said: "I’ll also be told as usual in the comments I 'look manly' or be warned 'not to go too far.'

"Thanks. I hear you, but I won’t be listening to you."
