Gyanvapi survey stalled, team denied entry into premises

VARANASI: The survey and videography of the Gyanvapi premises, which began on Friday amid tight security, was stalled on Saturday, as the advocate commissioner and the team of lawyers were not allowed entry and protests continued on the second day.

The advocate commissioner and lawyers reached Gyanvapi campus in the afternoon for the survey of Shringar Gauri in the complex but a crowd of namazis gathered outside the premises. Police dispersed the crowd after sloganeering started.

After some time, the plaintiffs came out of the premises and said people from the Muslim community did not allow them to go inside.

The petitioners’ advocate Vishnu Jain said, “The court had given a clear order, but it was not followed. We were not allowed to enter. People from the Muslim community came and stood at the door. Thus, the survey has been stopped.”
