We’re just a few days out from the release of Amy Odell’s Gwyneth: The Biography, but in the meantime, we’ve already been drip-fed some juicy morsels of tea from the author’s account of the namesake actress’ life and career.
ICYMI, Gwyneth Paltrow will be the subject of the biography, written by Anna Wintour biographer Odell, which is set to hit bookshelves on July 29. Across over 400 pages, Odell is said to lift the lid on “one of the most influential and polarising celebrities of the modern era”, complete with bombshell revelations about everything from her starry dating history to her pioneering of Goop in all its vagina-scented glory.

While the book is based on interviews with over 200 sources, including close friends and colleagues of Paltrow, it is not officially authorised by the star herself, with Odell going ahead with her deep-dive without Paltrow’s direct participation or contribution.
We won’t be able to dig in fully until later this month, but we’ve gotten word on some of the revelations that will be explored ahead of Gwyneth: The Biography’s release. In anticipation of all the juicy nuggets of intel still yet to come, here’s the biggest bombshells to feature in the book, from NSFW Ben Affleck deets to feuds with Madonna and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
Odell spills the tea(bag) on Paltrow and Affleck’s bedroom antics

For the biography, Odell got the inside (and torrid) goss on Paltrow’s romance with Affleck, the fellow Oscar-winner whom she dated from 1997 to 2000. According to Paltrow’s makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin, who was interviewed for the book, the actress supposedly “loved when Affleck tea-bagged her”.
That revelation came courtesy of Page Six, which published an excerpt from the book. Odell described Paltrow’s affinity for tea-bagging — the process by which… actually, IYKYK — as part of “the ribald side of her that her friends knew well but that the public didn’t see”.
Apparently, the Affleck section (or sex-tion, really) of the biography also details the reservations Platrow’s friends had about the Argo star, and mentions long-running rumours that their relationship “couldn’t overcome his self-destructive impulses, which may have even included cheating on her”. Nothing a little soothing mug of Earl Grey can’t fix, I’d say.
Paltrow told friends Brad Pitt was “dumber than a sack of shit”

As if Paltrow’s love life couldn’t get juicier, Odell also writes of her whirlwind relationship with Brad Pitt from 1994 to 1997. While their romance reached a peak in 1996 with their engagement, it was, per the biography, left in tatters when Pitt moved on with his soon-to-be wife Jennifer Aniston in 1999. Enter history’s most attractive love triangle.
“Gwyneth confided to friends that she’d felt sad when she learned they were getting married,” an excerpt from the book reads (per Us Weekly).
“She was also fond of telling them that Brad ‘has terrible taste in women.’”
A couple of years and a massive cheating scandal later, Pitt made it official with Angelina Jolie in 2005, and it was that same year that Odell claims Paltrow couldn’t resist taking another swipe at him during a conversation with a friend.
“According to someone familiar with the discussion, Gwyneth allegedly told her [Pitt is] dumber than a sack of shit.’”
Between tea bags and sacks of shit, Paltrow’s hands were certainly full!
Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy thought Paltrow was “little miss perfect”

Gwyneth: The Biography doesn’t just dish on the men in Paltrow’s life (side note: there’s mention of her supposed crush on Hugh Grant) with Odell also pulling back the curtain on her supposed feud with future Kennedy family member, Carolyn Bessette.
The two 90s It-girls were linked through Calvin Klein, to whom Bessette served as a publicist and Paltrow a celebrity client. Since Paltrow was, per an excerpt from the biography, “a regular presence” at the Calvin Klein office, the two would cross paths on occasion, but it wasn’t exactly the picture of cordiality.
“One of the publicists on the brand’s small team who helped Gwyneth was Carolyn Bessette (who would go on to become Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy),” the excerpt reads per Us Weekly.
“According to one person familiar with her thinking, Gwyneth irked her. When there were pictures of Gwyneth in the papers, Bessette, who viewed her as ‘little miss perfect,’ would make cutting remarks about her.”

No word yet on exactly what words Bessette used for Platrow, but since she would go on to marry JFK’s son, she probably had more pressing matters to attend to.
Paltrow’s friendship with Madonna reached a “breaking point” in the early-2000s

It wasn’t only Bessette who caught the ire of Paltrow, with Odell’s book also detailing the fallout she had with pop star Madonna in the early-2000s. According to the biography, their friendship reached a “breaking point” when the singer rocked up unannounced to an island where Paltrow and then-husband Chris Martin were vacationing.
“Madonna seemed to know that Gwyneth would be there, which Gwyneth seemed to find strange, a friend remembered,” the excerpt published by People reads.
While there, Paltrow and Martin apparently attended a dinner hosted by Madonna, where the friendship further deteriorated courtesy of a blow-out between Madonna and her daughter Lourdes. “Madonna went off on her daughter,” Odell wrote.
“Gwyneth and Martin were disgusted by the behaviour. ‘I can’t be around this woman anymore,’ Martin told Gwyneth. ‘She’s awful.’ Gwyneth agreed that Madonna was toxic and ended the friendship.”

So there you have it folks, all the juiciest revelations ahead of the release of Odell’s book Gwyneth: The Biography later this month. Since we only have excerpts to go off for now, expect to see a heap more tea when the biography actually arrives, hopefully including the reason why Gwyneth Paltrow sought to put her whole candussy (candle pussy) into Goop.
