Gwyneth Paltrow’s Black-and-White Washcloths Redefine American-Made Luxury and Elevate Your Morning Rituals With Plush, Design-Led Style

Gwyneth Paltrow.

Plush towels are more than just a part of self-care: they are a design-led statement. Imagine the comforting feeling of stepping into a luxury hotel bathroom, especially on a chilly November morning, and being greeted by the sight of soft, white bath towels. They instantly add dimension, warmth, and a cosy appeal to the space, perfect as we head towards the colder months and the holiday season.

Gwyneth Paltrow elevates this concept further by adding a subtle black stripe to the edge of her favorite bath towel. We spotted her using the washcloth from Matouk's Cairo collection in an Instagram post from Goop. Drying her face with its plush cotton surface is the final, gentle step of her skincare routine.

While $32 might seem steep for a single washcloth, the quality of the collection explains the price.

The Cairo collection is crafted from 100% long-staple cotton with a luxurious weight of 625 gsm. It is made in the USA of fabric sourced from Portugal, and even includes a handy loop for hanging, ideal for keeping things tidy during winter guest visits. Plus, there is that stunning, long-lasting towel band.

Carlin van Noppen, a design expert with decades of experience in textiles at Fig Linens and Home, explains: 'Matouk is synonymous with American-made luxury. They are highly committed to American craftsmanship, and it shows in their products. The Cairo towels feel heavier and softer than most mass-market towels, and one touch shows that they are a luxury product.'

She continues: 'Even if you don't want to commit to buying a full set of luxury towels, a washcloth is a great starting point for testing out if the higher GSM and cotton quality makes a difference to you.

Not only is it the most affordable piece of a towel set, but it's also the one you use on your face. The gentle, plush material can make a difference in your self-care routine.'

Whatever your budget, black and white washcloths are available to suit it. This extra special detail brings that layer of elevation that makes your mornings feel luxurious, a small treat as the days get shorter.
