Gwyneth Paltrow's beauty regime involves being paid to be stung by bees

From vagina steaming to blasting out plane germs in saunas, Gwyneth Paltrow has tried all number of unusual remedies to stay youthful. But the latest bout of beauty advice from the Oscar-award winning actress, who is now famed for her lifestyle website Goop, may be the most curious yet.

Proving that the age-old adage, pain is beauty, lives on, the 43-year-old has admitted to being stung by bees. “I’m open to anything. I’ve been stung by bees,” she explains in an interview with The New York Times. “It’s a thousands of years old treatment called apitherapy. People use it to get rid of inflammation and scarring. It’s actually pretty incredible if you research it. But, man, it’s painful”.

The wellbeing guru also makes it clear she has no qualms about trying most things. “I’m always the guinea pig to try everything. I’ve got to try them all,” she says. “I love acupuncture. Also, I just heard of a service called a sound bath, which might be too hippie-ish even for the likes of me. It’s some new healing modality”.

Since the mother-of-two started Goop from her kitchen back in 2008, the company has grown into a fully-fledged lifestyle brand, even launching Paltrow’s own skincare line. The brand lies somewhere between new age therapy and "aspirational" urban living.
